Wildfire Season

The fire season started today. It's not affecting us directly yet, but the fires are on either side of us and the whole situation is just too darned close to the Cedar Fires for comfort. I'm not looking forward to being evacuated, but if we get the order, we'll move. Right now, we're just watching the wind and crossing our fingers.

And it's positively eerie...everyone is just watching and waiting and hoping that they won't get told to leave their homes. We rent---we don't own this place but I can't imagine losing it. This is the house where I found out I was pregnant, where I spent my bed rest and where my water broke. I can't even begin to imagine what it's like for people who have lived in their homes for years---what memories have they lost?

I'll post more tomorrow. Hopefully, the winds will turn away from the fires and the firefighters will be able to get the blazes under control. I hope.
